A Little Bit Of A Ramble

Picture taken from instagram; unknown source

Some of you may have noticed (or perhaps not) that I haven't posted in a week or so. The reason being that I've had a lot on mind this past week and also because I've lost my blogging mojo a bit, but all is well because I'm back and will be posting regularly again as in every 2-3 days.

I have had some things happening in my life. I'm going to be starting university in a week or so and am excited yet nervous so I'm currently just patiently waiting for it to start.

I've also decided that for my birthday (28th October) I will be going to Bournemouth but next year in March as the weather will be a lot better then (I hope). As I won't be having any October holiday this year due to uni, I'm planning on having a birthday week so I can't wait either.

I've also decided not to buy the items on wishlist on my birthday as I currently need a new laptop and will be buying a Macbook Air around the beginning of 2016 next week. I'm also super excited for this too. I usually hate telling people my plans as then they never happen and I think this may be because I jinx it somehow. But the plans I have mentioned are not set in stone, yet I am definitely going to be committed to them and break this 'jinx' business.

I've come up with a new 'segment' that I'd like to follow on through on my blog. This MOTD (makeup of the day) was actually worn yesterday, but no one needs to know that, right?! I know I have a double chin in the photos, but I guess that's life and we're all adults here (or teenagers). I've realised that my makeup looks much better when I take the photo in a mirror, which I don't like to an extent. Nevertheless, it did take me about half an hour to put this on, and I did end up putting on a heavy load of highlighter by mistake, which does sucks but I was secretly digging it to be honest.

To start off with, I primed my face with Nivea's Replenishing After Shave, which I wrote tonne more deets on here, and Makeup Revolutions I Heart Makeup No Shine Please Primer specifically on my t-zone. I then used LA Colour Cover Up Pro Concealer in Pure Orange on the lower portion of my face and blended this in with a flat-top eyeshadow brush. It did resemble a orange beard at this point, but the reason for doing so was to colour correct that area otherwise it has a tendency to turn grey after I applied my foundation. My foundation of choice, for the past month or so, has been Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation in Spiced Sand which I applied with a round-top kabuki brush, which I mentioned more of here. I blended this all in with my Primark Beauty Blender to ensure I had no streaks on my face, which I don't normally do with this brush but I just wanted to be on the safe side. I applied my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 35 Deep and blended this out with the beauty blender too. I then set my entire face with Maxfactor's Professional Loose Powder in Transculent with a Real Techniques' Blush Brush, as this brush is way too big for me to use for blush. I then set my face with Urban Decay's Long-Lasting All-Nighter Setting Spray.

I decided to set my face (very lightly) with a Primark's Kabuki Brush, using Laguna from NARS Virtual Domination Palette, which I reviewed here. I bronzed up my face with NYC's Smooth Skin Bronzing Skin Powder in Sunny which is the only shade in the range with the Real Technique's Contour Brush, and contour my face with the same brush but with the contour side of the Sleek's Face Contour Kit in Medium. Now, this was the part where I changed it up (for once). Using my setting brush, which I bought from eBay and is reminiscent of Real Techniques and is also the best brush for highlighting, I used the highlighter side from the contour kit but it was way too much for my skin to handle. So I went on top with Makeup Revolutions' Radiant Lights in Breathe and Exhale, which is what I usually use. My current blush at the moment is NARS' Deep Throat, which I mentioned a dupe for at the bottom of this post here, with the brush that was made truly for blush, Real Techniques' Blush Brush,

I lightly filled my brows with Rimmel's Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown and brushing through this with a spoolie brush. I set this with Rimmel's Brow This Way, as I'm currently trying to finish this. I decided not to put any eyeshadow on and instead did a small flick with my Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner in black. I curled my lashes using eyelash curlers I buy from my local chemist for a pound and used Maybelline's Lash Sensational and Miss Sporty's 24hr Pump Up Booster Mascara. I decided to do something different this time, as I wanted my brown eyes to 'pop' so I lined my waterline with Soap and Glory's Smoulder Kohl in Noir Black and set this with Rimmel London's Mono Eyeshadow in Jet Black with a Real Technique's Eyeliner Brush. Finally, I lined and filled my lips in with Sleek's Eua La La Liner in Lingerie and MAC's Whirl Lipstick which creates the most gorgeous pink-mauve hybrid colour on my lips.

What makeup product do you wear everyday?

Current Wishlist #5

current wishlist, wishlist

If you've been reading my blog for the past month, then you'd know that I've been on a makeup spending ban which I am planning on breaking a week before my birthday (October 28th). Til then, I have compiled a list of items I will definitely be purchasing for myself! Just for reference, I made the above collage on Polyvore!

I posted my last wishlist here.

First is a MAC Lipstick in Persistence. This is part of the new Matte Collection which is a permanent line. The colour is very close to MAC's Taupe, which is my holygrail nude colour, so this colour is very much up my street. Unlike my previous wishlist post, I won't be purchasing the other MAC lipsticks that I had mentioned then. However, a lipstick that was added to my wishlist just today was Urban Decay's Matte Revolution Lipstick in 1993. I swatched this today and instantly fell in love with it! Urban Decay lipsticks are the same price as MAC so I will definitely be snatching this lipstick up! The MAC Fix Plus is on my list again, even though I didn't like this at first. I used my sister's a few weeks ago and it helped my foundation set so I will definitely be picking up the larger bottle of this.

I was talking to my sister the other day and I realised that makeup lasts quite a long time, i.e. up to 5-6 months or even longer, so I shouldn't really just buy budget products just because they're cheaper. So I'm planning on trying out different primers until I have found the one, and this time I won't let price stop me from doing so. YouTuber Casey Holmes has convinced me to pick up Makeup Forever's Step 1 Mattifying Primer. I will be purchasing the sample size (15ml) of this to make sure I definitely like this before picking up the normal size. I will also be picking up L'Oreals Mattifying Primer as it has been raved about in the blogosphere and is apparently the best for oily skin, which I have. Rimmel Stay Matte Primer is another primer raved continuously which I will also be buying. Hopefully one of these will be perfect for my skin otherwise the quest for the perfect primer will have to continue. From L'Oreal, I will also be buying their True Match Foundation in the shades 8N Cappucino and 7C Amber Rose. I previously used 7W Golden Amber as mentioned here, which I felt was a few shades too light for me. 7C is also light for me, however 8N is a lot darker than me. It really annoys me how L'Oreal skipped a few shades, so I'm having to mix both these shades to get my colour, which is ironic as they don't really have a true match for me.

Soap and Glory's Kick Ass Retouch Powder is one I want to try, but is continuously out of stock, but hopefully it'll be in stock around my birthday. From Zoeva, I want to try their Cocoa Blend Palette still, alongside their 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush which is a supposed better dupe for MAC's 217 Brush! Their Zoeva's 221 Luxe Soft Crease Brush and 142 Concealer and Buffer Brush have also caught my eye!

From ELF, their Studio range has been on my radar recently. Their Studio Crease Brush seems like the perfect brush for blending out my eyeshadow and their Ultimate Blending Brush is reminiscent of Morphe's G2 Gun Metal Pointed Buffer Brush and Zoeva's 102 Silk Finish Brush, so this instantly caught my eye. I am currently on a lookout for the perfect powder, aswell, to set my foundation so ELF's HD Powder in Sheer also caught my eye. Finally, on my list are their Studio Blushes. Candid Coral is a supposed dupe for NARS' Deep Throat blush I have been loving recently and have reviewed here, so I just have to have it. Blushing Rose is also a supposed dupe for NARS' Dolce Vita, and Berry Merry is a beautiful blush which I just have to own too!

What's on your wishlist currently?
