January Favourites

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation is my go-to foundation at the minute; it looks so natural but not cakey on your skin. It is easily blendable and can easily be buildable to give a fuller coverage. I nearly always go for a medium coverage. This foundation was featured here. LA Girl Pro Concealer was one of the best discoveries I found this month. I reviewed this here and it is one of my holy-grail products. This is thick enough to cover up an redness or imperfections, yet is still blendable.

Calvin Klein Creme Lipstick in Desire is such a lovely pink purple colour. It leaves a stain behind so that's a plus and I love it when lipsticks leave stains because then you can take longer to reapply it. Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Sultry is a brown pink colour, which is slightly more pink on my lips. This isn't as matte as I would like it to be, but it is super creamy which is a plus. Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede in Backstage is a beautiful deep red colour. It doesn't last long so you do have to keep on reapplying it every few hours or so. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Berry has saved my lips. I can wear this out as it disguises as a lipgloss so my lips are never really chapped. Body Shop Born Lippy Lipbalm is one I wear before drying lipsticks and makes them feel moisturised.

TV shows I have been enjoying recently are Friends (I think everyone loves watching this to be honest), the Musketeers, Sanjay and Craig, and QI.

Budget Liquid Lipsticks | MeNow Generation II

These budget-friendly liquid lipsticks are by the brand MeNow Generation II. I have shades 22 and 33 which are both rich colours; 22 is a deep berry colour with pink undertones, whereas 33 is a deep red colour. They are true to their colours when they apply.

I wore them for a total of 5 hours and they didn't even budge at all. It was actually a bit painful for it to come off as it felt as if they were going to be stuck on forever, however I used a wet wipe and it came off instantly. My lips felt a bit sore though afterwards but it was nothing that couldn't be sorted with a bit of lipbalm.

These retail for 99p on eBay and are from China so took about half a month to arrive. Nevertheless I was super excited when they arrived and put them on instantly. They lasted through food and drink which surprised me as most of my 'long lasting lipsticks' sure do not survive through drinking. These are definitely worth their price (it's under a pound, so they couldn't really be) and I definitely recommend this!

LA Girl Concealer *Review*

I seriously don't know how I did my makeup before this gem entered my life. A bit clich├ęd, but this has definitely changed my life and upped my makeup game.

la girl concealer, la girl pro concealer, la girl concealer warm sand, la girl pro concealer warm sand, concealer

Before this product I used to use green concealer to counteract the redness on my skin and pink under my eyes to hide my undereyes (which are genetic, thanks mum and dad!) but this concealer literally just hides all my imperfections straight away. Not only that, but a little goes a long way as it is really thick but blendable so this lasts a super long time. It's also thick enough that yo can wear it before your foundation and when you apply your foundation, it doesn't budge.

This lasts all day, as I found out when I left for college at 7.30 in the morning and came back at 4 in the evening and my undereyes were still as non-detectable as I had left that morning. I set this with loose powder but that does tend to make it slightly cakey, so using the least amount of powder is advisable. I dip my brush into the pot, tap off the excess and set the concealer in place.

I bought this for just under £2 on beautyjoint which is where you can buy American makeup brands for low prices as well.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this product to everyone who resemblances a zombie, no matter how much sleep they get

MAC Rebel *REVIEW*

This is the only MAC item I own (if you don't count mascara samples aha).

mac rebel lipstick, mac, mac rebel lipstick, swatch, mac rebel, mac rebel swatch, rebel switch, mac

I was so excited for this to arrive and, I really don't know why, as I was disappointed when it did. It doesn't feel 'expensive' nor anything special to be honest. In all true reality, I honestly don't see anything special about MAC lipsticks except that they cost hell of a lot more than regular lipsticks. I've noticed that they have gone up quite a lot in the recent years, which is super sucky.

Anywhos, this is a berry lipsticks leaning more towards the pink side than the purple. I was hoping it'd be more purple but I'm fine with it and don't mind wearing it so that's fine. The lipstick itself is pigmented and lasts for about 3-4 hours with or without lipliner. It is super creamy but this may be due to the satin finish. I'd say it's a semi-matte finish rather than a satin and this is a bonus as I love matte finishes.

The bullet itself is quite small but is sturdy which is beneficial when you want to throw your lipstick in your bag but don't want it to break or go on everything.

Overall though I wouldn't want to spend more than £10 (ish) on a MAC lipstick and it is not really worth the money, I'd say, but the colour is lovely.

MUA Undressed v Makeup Revolution Iconic 2

MUA Undressed, Makeup Revolution Iconic 2, makeup revolution, makeup revolution redemption palette, makeup revolution redemption iconic 2 palette
Left to right: MUA Undressed,
Makeup Revolution Iconic 2

MUA Undressed was, and is, the first palette I have ever owned (if you don't count quads that is) and has such gorgeous colours. It has three matte colours and nine metallic ones, which are all super pigmented though there is some fall out. It has 9.6 grams of product and costs £4.00, and the is made of very thin plastic. I think this is why the lid of mine has already fallen off. I featured this here, where I posted a swatch of my favourite colours.

Makeup Revolution Redemption Iconic 2 is a supposed dupe of the Naked 2 by Urban Decay. This is my sister's unfortunately as I'm yet to buy my own one (but I'm super excited to). This also cost £4.00 and has three matte colours and nine metallic ones too, a lot like the MUA palette. There is 14 grams of product and the packaging itself is slightly thicker and made out of plastic. It isn't strong but definitely feels sturdier than the MUA palette.

Overall, I'd buy the Makeup Revolution palette as you get 4.4 grams more and has little fall out, plus the packaging is less likely to break.

Under £10 Makeup Starter Kit

I love reading these kind of posts but really dislike it when the products are just a few pounds off from being a high end product; not everyone can afford expensive products. That being said, I thought I'd post my own makeup basics, which is purely drugstore.

BASE

Maybelline Baby Skin (£7.99) is a supposed dupe for Benefit's Porefessional. It is silicone based and definitely does make your pores disappear. Only a pea-sized amount is needed as a little goes a long way. Another super cheap alternative is Smoothing Light Reflecting Primer Kisses xo by Wilkos (£3.00) doesn't really reflect light but does blur out pores and makes your skin feel silky smooth.

FACE

Makeup Revolution Matte Effect Foundation (£2.00) definitely does what it says on the label and is good for low coverage. I did a full review of this here. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (£7.99) blends so seamlessly and makes your skin look oh so perfect. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (£6.99) is a medium to full coverage and was featured in this post where it was compared against its sibling Maybelline Wake Me Up.

Natural Collection Loose Powder (£1.99) is a godsend and at such a low price, this is so affordable. Plus it lasts for a few months too. MUA Blushes (£1.00) are probably the cheapest blushes which have mega pigmentation. It does have a bit of a fall out though. MUA Bronzer (£1.00) is also another super affordable item. Pigmentation is good but this bronzer is more orange-toned so is harder to contour with so is best off as a general bronzer. NYC Bronzer (£1.99) is the perfect brown-toned bronzer that I use for contouring, and it lasts all day!

EYES

Rimmel Brow This Way (£3.99) and Rimmel Professional Brow Pencil (£2.99) work side by side to make your eyebrows how you want them to be. A light hand can be used to make them natural, otherwise a heavy hand can be used to make your eyebrows harsh and bold. Rimmel Max Bold Curves Mascara lengthens your lashes and Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (£4.99) is super easy to apply and thickens your lashes. Both these mascaras were featured in my mascara collection postRimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner is the best liquid eyeliner I own, hands down. It is super easy to use and lasts all day, even in my oily eyelids.

MUA Undressed Palette (£4.00) is such a versatile palette, as I find a use for all the colours. Makeup Revolution Flawless Eyes Like Angels (£8.00) is such a beautiful palette, the colours are oh so gorgeous. There is some fall out with the more shimmery colours on both palettes but wear time is good. Lastly the Revlon ColorStay ShadowLinks (£2.99) are individual shadows that can be 'linked' to create your own palette. I absolutely love the colours I own. Below I have posted my favourite eyeshadow colours from the palettes!

LIPS

Body Shop Born Lippy Pink Berry Lip Balm (£3.00) is my go-to and favourite lipbalm. I apply this before I put on any matte lipsticks and makes my lips feel so hydrated and moisturised. Revlon Matte Balm (£7.99) is a bit pricey but is definitely worth it. It dries matte after a few seconds but does not dry your lips out, they still feel super moisturised. Revlon Lip Butter (£7.99) is another pricey one but is also worth it. These moisturise your lips whilst giving them a slight tint. Makeup Revolution Lipstick (£1.00) are super cheap but are really pigmented, especially for the price you pay. Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss (£5.49) are super pigmented and last about 3.4 hours before a top up is required. They have a slight smell but this doesn't affect me. Topshop Lipsticks (£8.00) are also a bit pricey, but are comparable to MAC lipsticks. Rumour has it, Topshop makeup is a brand under MAC! Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses (£5.49) look so natural on your lips and aren't sticky like how most lipglosses tend to be!

Makeup Revolution The Matte Effect Foundation Review

I recently picked Makeup Revolution The Matte Effect Foundation after seeing it in someone's favourites post. With it only costing £2 I was curious to see whether it truly did live up to its name. The fact that it costs only £2 for 25ml makes it budget friendly as this foundation is super, super cheap.

First things first, I have combination skin where I have an extremely oily T-Zone. This foundation reduced the 'oiliness' by a lot where I only had to set my foundation with powder only once! My T-Zone became a bit oily near the end of the day, but it was nothing compared to how it usually is. This foundations claims to last up to 16 hours, however I'd say it lasted about 6 hours for me, but then again it does say up to 16 hours, which doesn't mean that it'd last for 16 hours.

Also this foundation can only be used for super light coverage so it does look natural on your skin, but it doesn't hide any imperfections or flaws. I tried layering it on to make the coverage slightly thicker but then it just looked caked on.

The colour I got was Sand which is a tad lighter than my skin tone, but can be buffed to look natural on me; a shade up was too dark so I'm disappointed by the colour range. I hope they bring out more colours soon. I also don't really like how you have to squeeze out the foundation as I feel that there'd still be foundation left over and wasted but that's just personal preference.

Budget Buy Lipsticks

Today I thought I'd show you all my budget lipsticks, which cost only £1!

First is a Makeup Revolution Lipstick in 100% Vamp, which is a vamp shade. I think this was limited edition, only available during the last holidays but I'm not sure about this. This is a deep purple colour which can be layered to look almost black! It is also super creamy.

Next is Makeup Revolution Lipstick in Rebel With Cause, being another vamp shade, is a gorgeous purple with pink undertones. This is also creamy and can be layered to look more pink than purple. Both of these have a glossy satin finish and can last up to 3 hours!

MUA Lipstick in Shade 1 is a deep blood-red colour. The formula is creamy and leaves a glossy finish. It lasts up to 2 hours so top up is required but it does leave a stain so it is less noticeable. This lipstick is super pigmented so only one swipe is needed for a good coat.

Makeup Revolution Lipstick in Reckless is a slightly lighter colour than MUA Shade 1. The formula is amazing; extremely creamy and pigmented so only one coat is needed also. This survives during drinking but disappears once you start eating, so reapplication is definitely needed then.

MUA Matte Lipstick In Wild Berry was the only one I was disappointed with; in the tube it looks a rich plum colour but that colour is barely left on your lips, instead you are left with a more pinkish berry stain. This is ridiculously creamy though and makes your lips feel moisturised.

Last is Makeup Revolution Lipstick in Dazzle. This is a creamy mauve pink with some shimmers and has 2-3 hours wear time. It is also super creamy, much like the other lipsticks.

Will you be purchasing any of these budget lipsticks?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks will launch today in 20 different colours and will be available exclusively on Anastasia's website and Macy's. They're priced at $20 each which is roughly around £13 which is only a few pounds cheaper than Mac lipsticks.

On my wishlist is Vamp and Heathers which I think will fit in my berry lipstick collection perfectly. These supposed dry to matte and are smudge-proof which is basically what every girl wants in a lipstick!

Will you be ordering any of these beauties?

December Favourites

This is a few days late as we're already into January, but still it's better than nothing.

This palette has been mentioned maybe a bit too much on my blog but MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Undressed is such a versatile palette; this month I have been enjoying Shade 3 all over my lid and Shade 9 on top, blended to look natural. Maybelline Great Lash and L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes have been my go-to mascaras this month. Million Lashes separates my lashes and lengthens them, whilst Great Lash thickens them. This combo looks oh so good with winged eyeliner and make my brown eyes pop.

The previous months I have been using my beauty blender combined with my foundation brush but I have altogether ditched those brushes and been using this alone for blending my foundation, concealer and colour correcting my skin (yes, it's that good!).

Sugar Berry Tinted Lip Treatment by Fresh and Lip Service Apricot Lip Scrub by Wilkos were both my saviours this month! The lip treatment hydrated my lips and helped them when they felt a bit sore, whilst the lip scrub was my rescue whenever I had dry lips as I do love a matte lip.

I usually keep away from bright or nude lips as I don't think they suit my skin tone, but I am officially converted! Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry is probably the lightest and 'brightest' colour I have ever worn. This is my sisters and I must buy own soon because it is such a beautiful colour. It's more a brown colour on her lips, so it came as a surprise when this was more of a pink colour on mine. It lasts 4 hours and stains your lips, so it does require only a few touch-ups. Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in 1995 is such a gorgeous colour, which is sure to suit any skin tone. This is also my sisters and I'm planning on buying my own soon! The packaging is so beautiful but one thing that does deter me from using this a lot is the smell. It smells a bit like oranges but mixed with something; I find it quite unpleasant but the smell does go away once you apply it. It's super creamy and does not dry out your lips, as with the Revlon colorburst. The same can also be said for the Topshop Mini Lip Bullet in Get Me Bodied. I was slightly disappointed that this was a lot smaller than expected, especially since it costs £5 but still it was bought with a gift card so I can't really complain. This is such a gorgeous colour, but does feather out if applied without a lip liner. All three are super pigmented and really only need one swipe to get 'full coverage'.

I've recently started wearing lip liner as I've realised that they make your lipstick, especially dark lipstick, last a lot longer. I use Essence Lipliners in 15 Honey Berry, 05 Soft Berry and Miss Sporty Lipliner in 012 Wine. They are super pigmented, aside the latter which actually felt really harsh when 'colouring' in my lips. The first two are super creamy and glide on oh so well.

This month I have been listening to Uptown Funk // Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars has a Michael Jackson feel to it and is such a good song, any music-lover would definitely love this song. Why Worry // Set It Off is a song you can sing along to. It has a choir-esque sense to the chorus and has been lifting my moods recently; it's weird how a song you discovered by skipping channels has such an effect on you and your moods.
